Can I seek abortion as a woman with disabilities?

Abortion is a healthcare service, and is available to all pregnant persons irrespective of dis/abilities.

Women with major physical and/or intellectual disabilities as per criteria laid down under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016,[see related link] can seek abortion up to 24 weeks. Beyond 24 weeks, permission of the court is required, except where there is a threat to the life of the pregnant person, and/or where significant foetal abormalities have been detected.

In case of intellectual disabilities and/or the pregnant person is a minor, the consent of one's parent or guardian is required in writing.
